How many singers are singing or studying this score? Our business relies on the purchase of one original score per voicing and a licensed copy for each singerโas well as the purchase of additional licenses in the future when more copies are made. (For example: For a 30-voice choir, you would buy a license to make 30 copies.) You may also discover from Dalglish recordings that we encourage creative and fresh performance ideas. Go for it!

Song No. 7 from Hymnody of Earth
Words and Music by Malcolm and Campbell Dalglish
Window Tree is a song about waking to the familiar sight of a tree outside a bedroom window. The free phrasing required in this song would be more easily accomplished if the dulcimer player is the solo vocalist. A soprano or tenor could also sing this solo effectively. This piece introduces the metallic, harplike sounds of the plucked hammer dulcimer. The dulcimer part uses a pitch change embellishment referred to as a โKoto bendโ in which a sounded noteโs pitch is altered or โbentโ by rapid pushes on that string on the opposite side of the bridge. This is a common technique used on the Japanese Koto.
