There are certain profound times in our lives when we feel we have a clear window on the infinite. We are pulled out of our day-to-day world into the vast resonance of life, and we feel like we are walking on air. That’s what this song is about. The song was inspired by the African American gospel singing tradition that so thoroughly expresses joy. Choirs should incorporate that spirited physicality into the performance of this piece.
