“Soup” grew out of one of Malcolm’s many improvisations with the spoons and mouth sounds. It still turns out differently every time he performs it. In this rendition Malcolm plays the wooden spoons both in the normal spoons position and also in the “bones position.” We couldn’t resist at this point using the capabilities of the recording studio to produce the sound of a whole string band coming in on “Banjo Tramp.”
